Repair MS Outlook damaged due to 'Object could not be found Error!

While configuring MS Outlook client MS Office will provide user with two modes i.e. Internet Mail Only (IMO) Mode and Corporate Workgroup Mode which further assists user in connection with MS Outlook. As per the configuration and other factors the machine will prompt the user to determine the mode. Corporate Workgroup is perfect for those users who wish to use Exchange Server and in contrast Internet Mail Only (IMO) mode is for those users who wish to access POP3 mails and IMAP etc. However, installing Outlook is either of the modes sometimes may result into error message – "The operation failed. An object could not be found.". In IMO mode this error message appears when user tries to relocate or delete PST file directly from the folder list and in Corporate Workgroup Mode, the message is flashed when attempt is made to displace the PST file from the profile.

However Outlook error message is flashed, due to number of other reasons like –

  • Damaged folder list – The folder list contains all the sub-folders that are available in the mail box.
  • When the Personal Folder does not connect to the PST file etc.

But like any other issue this issue can also be resolved easily by performing two or three activities. As neither of the measure is safe and in order to resolve the issue damage or corruption of PST file can happen and for that user need to perform Outlook PST Repair. Well, there is also an other way using which this problem can be resolved and that is by altering the settings of system’s registry. But try this solution only in extreme case because altering registry can cause many serious issues.

In order to alter the registry user first need to find following registry – "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging\Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings\", then search the registry key that is entitled with the old PST file and delete it, but always remember to recover Outlook PST data’s before performing this act. As you know corruption of PST mean loss of data related to emails, contacts, calendar, notes, appointments etc. which is a huge loss.
