Rectifying CRC Errors in Outlook 2007!

To detect the changes in the data of raw computer in various types of storage devices a method is used called CRC or Cyclic Redundancy Check. It produces the fixed length code by taking the data stream as input. The codes thus formed are very efficient in finding the errors which is caused due to the interruptions in the data transfer. "File xxx.pst could not be accessed. Data error, Cyclic Redundancy Check."

In addition to this error, any attempt to access the Deleted Item Folder of Outlook 2007 will result following error –

"Error 0x80040116".

These error messages clearly indicates that the PST file of MS Outlook is corrupted because of the CRC errors, but there can also be some other reasons behind this PST corruption like virus infection, human errors, abrupt system shutdown, oversized PST file and so on. In order to resolve this error messages and the issue below mentioned steps will surely help –

  • Run Scanpst.exe tool.
  • Repair the recovered mail items.
  • Recover additional repaired items from the personal backup folder and then check the Inbox and other folder, if they were working properly. After performing these items the problems will surly be resolved.
